Bidouilles On My Wing
Release Exhaust System

From Philo
I don't know if this object concerns all the 1800 Goldwing around the world but I'm quite sure this
is available for all the European community. So I think that this topic should interest you if you want to give a little bit more 'punch' at your engine. As so as to respect environmental norms (I suppose), HONDA's engeneers have put cones into the exhaust pipes
as so as reduce the diameter from 40 to 30 mm. (1,57 to 1,18 in). This cones are fixed with 3 weld points. So we gonna take off these cones from our pipes. Let's go!

The first step is to remove the 2 screws near the collector (3 in one)

Another screw at rear

Once the pipe is off. Here is what we have. The famous cone wich is reducing the diameter from 40 to 30 mm

As so as to take it off, you haven't got the choice. Portable grinder will be very helpfull to you.

Here are the cones! You only have to put your pipes on again.

What's the result? Concerning the noise, there are not many changes. Leasten below the two
examples with and without cones. The difference is very very very small!

Before                  After

The most interesting point concerns the feeling of the engine. It's difficult for me to translate in English but you will really feel the difference!! You have to envisage one hour and a half to do this operation, and you won't regret it!
